Fees and the launch tax
The tables show the default launch terms. Each duel keeps the rates fixed at its own launch; future duels can use different bounded terms. The app shows the terms of the duel you trade.
| Action | Fee | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Buy or sell against ETH | 1.2%, in ETH | 33% protocol, 33% the duel's creator, 34% the round pot |
| Switch sides through ETH | 1.2% on the sale, 1.2% on the purchase | As any sale and purchase |
| Switch sides through the A/B pool | 0.5% | Burned, in the token you leave |
| Launch a duel | 0.01 ETH | Protocol |
| Buy in the first 10 seconds | 98%, fading to 0 | The round pot |
| Realignment | None | Its whole profit goes to the round pot |
Swap fee
Every buy and every sell against ETH pays 1.2% of the ETH traded, taken in ETH by the hook:
| Receiver | Share of the fee | Share of the trade |
|---|---|---|
| Protocol treasury | 33% | 0.396% |
| Duel's creator | 33% | 0.396% |
| Round pot | 34% | 0.408% |
A supporter duel sends the creator's 33% to the pot as well.
The protocol can take less than its share, for every duel at once: the factory's owner lowers it, down to nothing, and raises it back, never above the share each duel's terms set. What the protocol does not take goes to the round pot; the creator's share and the fee you pay stay the same.
The fee is the same share of what you pay or receive whether a swap is specified by its input or by its output.
Switch fee
A switch sells the side you leave for ETH and spends all of it on the other side, in one transaction: the sale and the purchase each pay the 1.2% fee, shared like any other. It can also go straight through the A/B pool, where it pays 0.5% of the token you leave, and those tokens are burned: no ETH fee, nothing to the protocol. The A/B pool holds only 2% of each supply, so that road gives more only for the smallest switches; the app quotes both and takes the better.
Launch fee
Launching a duel costs 0.01 ETH, sent to the treasury in the launch transaction.
The anti-snipe tax
Bots try to buy a new token in its first block. For the first 10 seconds of a duel, buys pay a tax on top of the fee: 98% at launch, halved at least once a second, then nothing from the tenth second.
- The tax goes to the round pot: snipers fund the first buyback.
- Sells pay no tax.
- The creator's launch buys, made in the launch transaction, pay no tax.
- The tax is the same share of what the buyer pays whether the swap is specified by its input or its output: an exact-output swap does not escape it.
A swap that does not fill
Some fees are taken before execution, on the amount requested: an exact-input ETH buy, an exact-output ETH sale, or an exact-input A/B switch. Those swaps fill completely or revert with PartialFill. If a price limit or insufficient ETH would stop them early, the swap and its fee transfers roll back. Network gas can still be charged for the failed transaction.
Bounds
The factory’s owner can pause new launches immediately. Changes to bounded launch terms wait 48 hours and apply only to future duels. The protocol treasury address can also change after 48 hours: protocol fees, including those already accumulated, are paid to the treasury configured when they are claimed. This does not change a live duel’s fee rates, its creator recipient or its pot. The contracts have no trading pause. Lowering the protocol's share of the swap fee, or raising it back up to a duel's terms, takes effect at once.
| Term | Default | Allowed |
|---|---|---|
| Swap fee | 1.2% | 0.25% to 2% |
| Protocol share of it | 33% | up to 50% |
| Pot share of it | 34% | up to 50% |
| Switch fee | 0.5% | up to 1% |
| Launch fee | 0.01 ETH | up to 0.01 ETH |
| Launch valuation (each side's FDV) | 1.68 ETH | 0.1 to 1,000 ETH |
| Anti-snipe tax | 98% over 10 s | up to 60 s, and never 100% with the fee |
| A/B pool | 2% of each supply | 2% to 20% |
A live duel keeps its launch terms. The protocol fee recipient follows the current treasury address, as described above.
